VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – They tried to get away with a free ride, and ended up the target of transit cops with stun guns. And now Greater Vancouver Transit Authority Police are commenting on a report suggesting non-violent passengers have been tasered during busts.
An official comment from the GVTA Police services doesn’t say much. Sergeant Willie Merenick says TransLink Police operates like any other police service. It’s officers are trained in various levels of use of force that meet National use of force standards and the Tasers are a tool they are provided with to execute their duties.
